Bible and Homosexuals

I am amazed by those claiming to know the Bible yet know very little. We are not to judge, which is correct, and we do not hate homosexuals; however despite this the Bible does speak against it in plain language which can be found here:

[http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Lev&c=18&t=KJV  <– The link if you would like to read it in a version other than NKJV]

Lev 18:22 NKJV – ‘You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It [is] an abomination.

goes on to say:

Lev 18:23 – 30 NKJV – ‘Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It [is] perversion. ‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. ‘For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. ‘You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit [any] of these abominations, [either] any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you ‘(for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who [were] before you, and thus the land is defiled), ‘lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that [were] before you. ‘For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit [them] shall be cut off from among their people. ‘Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that [you] do not commit [any] of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I [am] the LORD your God.’ ”

This clear show’s that the Bible shows it to be sexually immoral, as is sleeping with animals, which leads us to the next scripture for those that would claim it was the old testament and no longer relevant.

Mal 3:6 NKJV – “For I [am] the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

Yes sin is sin then and now the difference is that we are no longer under the law (old testament) but grace (new testament) allowing one to repent (turn away from) sin and be presented as though we had never sin.

Mar 6:12 NKJV – So they went out and preached that [people] should repent.

Act 3:19 NKJV – “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

This is important because it shows those that would claim if you steal you should have you hand caught off or other like-minded comments. What is sin or not has not changed it is the way in which it is dealt with. In the Old Testament repentance, as it is viewed and known in the New Testament, was a foreign concept. As such should someone steal they could not simply repent and be rid of the sin, thus the removed the offending member, in this case the hand used to steal.

Which leads us to the last question, is the sexual immoral, according to the Bible, act of a man laying with another man as they would a woman (homosexuality) mentioned and condemned in the New Testament.

Rev 21:8 NKJV – “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Rev 22:15 NKJV – But outside [are] dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

Again it is shown here without question to be a sin according to the Bible:

Rev 2:19 NKJV – “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and [as] for your works, the last [are] more than the first.

Rev 2:20 NKJV – “Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

Rev 2:21 NKJV – “And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.

Rev 2:22 NKJV – “Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.

Rev 2:23 NKJV – “I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

This begs the question however, given that the Bible clearly shows that homosexuality is in fact a sin. One that will land you in hell along with other immoral [people], how do we as Christians treat and behave towards them?

Simply put, we treat them as we would want to be treated. We are not to judge their choices no more than we would like them to come into our homes and dictate what we should do. We will all stand and give an account for our own actions good and bad, we will be weighed and measured as will all.

It sickens me just as much that one would use my Lord and Savior to spew hate at another person, for those calling themselves Christians I offer you this:

1Cr 5:9 NKJV – I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people.

1Cr 5:10 NKJV – Yet [I] certainly [did] not [mean] with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

1Cr 5:11 NKJV – But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner–not even to eat with such a person.

It is not the individual the Bible is against, nor should we be in opposition of the “person”, but the action. This means while I personally would not support marriage or civil union because of my belief; however, should homosexuals be legal married, as permitted by the governing laws either by state or federal , they should be afforded the same benefits entitled to those of man and woman union (marriage).

Hence I equally would not oppose anyone that was a homosexual from making the hard choices, what medical needs there life partner should they not be able to make their own nor deny them health care (insurance) simply because of a sexual preference (not covering their partner).

It is not the person we are (or should be) against, but again the act…
